cells and cell transport

?
what parts are in an animal cell?
ribosomes,cell membrane,cypoplasm,nucleus and mitochondria
1 of 18
what is the nucleus' job?
controls all the activities of the cell. Also, contains the instructions for making new cells or new organisms
2 of 18
what is the cyptoplasm?
a liquid gel which most of the chemical reactions need for life to take place. The most important is RESPIRATION.
3 of 18
what does the cell membrane do?
controls the passage of substances in and out of the cell.
4 of 18
what does the mitochondria do?
structures in the cyptoplasm when oxygen is used and most of the energy is released during respiration.
5 of 18
what do ribosomes do?
protein synthesis takes place here. All the proteins needed in the cell are made here
6 of 18
what parts are in a plant cell?
a nucleus, cellulose cell wall, chloroplasts, permanent vacuole, mitochondria, cyptoplasm and ribosmes
7 of 18
what is a permanent vacuole?
a space in the cyptoplasm filled with cell sap, which is important for keeping the rigid to support the plant.
8 of 18
what does a cell wall made of cellulose do?
strengthens the cell and gives it support
9 of 18
what are chloroplasts?
they are found in all the green parts of the plants. they are green because they contain the green substance CHLOROPHYLL which gives the plant its colour. They absorb light energy to make food by PHOTOSYNTHESIS.
10 of 18
What parts are in a yeast cell?
a nucleus, cyptoplasm, cell wall and a cell membrane
11 of 18
why is yeast a useful microorganism?
you can bake (make bread with it) and brewing (make ethanol)
12 of 18
why may cells be specialised ?
to carry out a particular function
13 of 18
what parts are in a bacterial cell?
slime capsule, cell wall, cell membrane, flagella, cyptoplasm
14 of 18
how is the genetic information different in a bacterial cell?
it is found as a long strand
15 of 18
what is the flagella?
a long protein strand that lashes about
16 of 18
what is diffusion?
the spreading of particles of a gas, or any other ssubstance in solution. which means net movement of particles from an area of high concentration to an area of lower concentration.
17 of 18
what is the equation for respiration?
oxygen + glucose = carbon dioxide + water
