Selectively permeable and regulates the transport materials into and out of the cell. Separates cell contents from the outside environment.
Plasma Membrane
1 of 22
The --------- maintains cell chape and stores chemicals needed by the cell for metabolic reactions.
Cytoplasm
2 of 22
The ------- controls and regulates cellular activity and houses genetic material called chromatin, DNA and proteins, from which comes the instruction for making proteins.
Nucleus
3 of 22
Makes RNA and ribosomes.
Nucleolus
4 of 22
Protien synthesis takes place on the ribosomes and the newly synthesised proteins are transported to the Golgi apparatus.
Rough Endoplasmic Reticulum
5 of 22
Responsible for synthesis and transport of lipids and carbohydrates.
Smooth Endoplasmic Reticulum
6 of 22
Newly made proteins are received here from the rough ER. It modifies them and packs the proteins into vesicles so they can be tranported to where they are needed within the cell.
Golgi Apparatus
7 of 22
Two types, transport and secretory. Tranport ones transport materials inside the cell. While the secretory ones transport materials to the surface of the cell.
Vesicles
8 of 22
They break down waste material including old organelles.
Lysosomes
9 of 22
Protein synthesis occurs here.
Ribosomes
10 of 22
Site of aerobic respiration.
Mitochondria
11 of 22
Form spindle fibres during cell division
Centrioles
12 of 22
Protects and supports the cell and the whole plant.
Cell Wall
13 of 22
Site of photosynthesis. Light energy is trapped by the chlorophyll and sued to produce carbohydrate nolecules from water and carbon dioxide.
Chloroplast
14 of 22
Maintains turgor pressure to ensure a rigid framework remains in the cell.
Vacuole
15 of 22
Selectively permeable to allow small molecules to pass through.
Tonoplast
16 of 22
Responsible for the synthesis and storage of starch granules
Amyloplast
17 of 22
Enables transport and communication between individual plant cells
Plasmodesmata
18 of 22
Allows water to enter and leave the xylem vessels.
Pits
19 of 22
Protects the cell and prevents dessication
Capsule
20 of 22
The region where genetic information can be found and controls cellular activity
Nucleoid
21 of 22
They carry extra genes that may benefit the survival of the bacteria
Plasmid
22 of 22
