A semi-rigid structure outside the plasma membrane. It is composed of mainly cellulose. It supports the cell & limits its volume.
cell wall
1 of 7
Structures associated with nuclear division. They are composed of microtubules, but appear as small, featureless particles under a light microscope. They are absent in higher palnt cells & some protoctists.
centrioles
2 of 7
Specialised plastids containing green pigment chlorophyll. They contain dense stacks of membranes (grana) within a colourless stoma. They are sites for photosynthesis & occur mainly in leaves.
chloroplast
3 of 7
Small, hair-like structures found on the surface membrane of some animal cells. In cross-section, they have outer membrane & ring of 9 pairs of microtubules inside & single pair in the middle. These are used for movement of substances along surface.
cilia
4 of 7
A watery solution containing dissolved substances, enzymes, and cell organelles & structures. The site of translation in the cell.
cytoplasm
5 of 7
A network of microtubules & microfibres that provide support in eukaryotic cells
cytoskeleton
6 of 7
Fluid-filled sac in the cytoplasm, surrounded by a membrane
vacuole
