cell membrane
partially permeable barrier which controlls the passage of substances in and out of the cell.
1 of 11
endoplasmic reticulum
System of channels for transporting materials through the cytoplasm. RER ribosomes on surface-protein synthesis SER sterioid and lipids
2 of 11
Golgi apparatus
receives protiens synthesised on the ER and prepares them for secretion out of the cell. involves adding carbohydrates to form glycoproteins.
3 of 11
Mitochondria
aerobic respiration and produces ATP in cell.
4 of 11
Cell wall
provides machanical support and protection, prevents cell from bursting.
5 of 11
chloroplasts
Photosynethis takes place. pigments capture the energy of sunlight and transfer it to chemical bonds.
6 of 11
nucleus
chromosomes contain DNA which controls the synthesis of proteins. Ribosomes are formed in the nucleolus.
7 of 11
Ribosomes
uses info in nucleic acid to synthesise proteins.
8 of 11
lysosomes
destroys worn out organelles and digestes the contents of vaculoes formed by phagocytosis.
9 of 11
centriole
spindle shape structure of protein fibres on which the chromosomes move during nuclear division.
10 of 11
vacuole
stores waste products and other substances. changes in volume affect the turgidity of the cell.
