Eukaryotic
Complex cell- includes animal and plant cells
1 of 12
Prokaryotic
More simple type of cell includes bacterial cells.
2 of 12
Sperm Cells
They specialise in reproduction; a streamlined body allows them to reach the egg quickly. A lot of mitochrondria to give it lots of energy. Carry enzymes to digest through the eggs cell membrane
3 of 12
Nerve Cells
They specialise it rapid signalling throughout the body; They are long to cove a vast distance. Branched connections to connect to other nerve cells.
4 of 12
Muscle Cells
They are specialised for contracting. They are long so they have a lot of space to contract and contain lots of mitochondria to generate engergy needed for contraction.
5 of 12
Root hair Cells
They are specialised for absorbing water and minerals. The long hairs stick into the soil and gives the plant a big surface area for absorbing the materials out of the soil.
6 of 12
Phloem and Xylemn Cells
They are specialised for transported substances such as food and water. Xylem cells are hollow in the centre and Phloem have very few subcellular structures for stuff to flow though them.
7 of 12
Cell Differentiation
Cells differentiate to become specialised. Differentiation is the process in which a cell changes to become specialised for its job.
8 of 12
How undifferentiated cells change
They develop different subcellular structures and turn into a differemt type of cells which allows them to carry out specific functions.
9 of 12
Stem Cells
These are undifferentiated cells and can divide to produce more undifferentiated cells. They cal then differentiate into different types of cell
10 of 12
Where are Stem Cells found?
They are found in early human embryos and have the potential to turn into any type of cell. Adults have stem cells that re only found in the bone marrow.
11 of 12
Embryonic and bone marrow stem cells
They can be gorwn in a lab to produce clones and made to differentiate into specialised cells to use for medicine or research
