Membrane
A phosolipid bilayer that holds the contents of the cell and contains protein channels to allow transport of some molecules.
1 of 12
Nucleus
a rounded or elongated structure that lies very near the centre of the cell. The control centre, contains the majority of hereditary genes. Contains DNA which carry the encoded information necessary for protein synthesis.
2 of 12
Smooth Endoplastic reticulum
No ribosomes is continuous with the rough, it does not participate in protein synthesis, its enzymes are involved in the synthesis of lipid molecules, regulation of intracellular calcium, and the metabolism and detox of some drug and hormones
3 of 12
Cytosol
tbc
4 of 12
Lysosome
Contains powerful hydrolytic enzymes (acid hydrolases) that can breakdown worn-out cell parts as well as foreign substances taken into the cell.
5 of 12
Mitochondia
The power houses of the cell, providing energy.
6 of 12
Centrioles
tbc
7 of 12
Rough Endoplastic Reticulum
Rough is studded with ribosomes attached to specific binding sites on the membrane. Proteins produced here usually become components of lysosomes or other organelles.
8 of 12
Ribosomes
Serve as sites of protein synthesis in the cell.
9 of 12
Golgi Apparatus
Substances produced in the ER are carried to the Gogli complex by membrane-covered transfer vesicles. Many cells synthesize large proteins the gogli apparatus modifies them and packages them into secretory granules or vesicles.
10 of 12
Microtubule
tbc
11 of 12
Protoplasm
(internal matrix of a cell)- includes the nucleus and the cytoplasm.
