Structure:2 layers of phospholipids, embedded proteins such as receptors on outer surface. Function:Seperates external contents. Regulates movement of substances in and out of cell.
1 of 5
Nucleus
Stucture: Surrounded by double membrane called nuclear envelope. Allows exchange of materials between nucleus and cytoplasm. DNA is found in nucleus also a region called nucleolus which produces ribosomes.
2 of 5
Mitochondrion
Structure: Oval shape, double membrane. Inner membrane cristae, inner compartment(matrix) contains vicous liquid which contains enzymes. Function:some of the reactions of aerobic respiration, produces energy in the form of ATP.
3 of 5
Ribosomes
Structure: 2 Subunits, one large one small, made up of protein and ribosomal RNA. Function: They are the site of protein synthesis.
4 of 5
Endoplasmic reticulum
Structure: 2 types (RER) Covered with ribosomes and (SER) does not have ribosomes. Function: (RER) Transports the protein synthesised at the ribosomes, (SER) Produces and transports lipids.
