What process involves making new cells that are identical?
Mitosis
1 of 8
What does DNA make up? How many of these are in a skin cell?
DNA makes up a gene which makes up a chromosome. There are 46 chromosomes in a human skin cell.
2 of 8
Explain the processes involved in the cell cycle
1. Each cell increases in size 2. It clones it's DNA which line up in the center of the cell 3. They are pulled apart by spindle fibres 4. There are now 2 cells (Mitosis)
3 of 8
Name 3 specialized cells and explain how they are specialized
Sperm cell: Many Mitochondria to release energy for swimming. Muscle cell: contains proteins that slide over each other to contract and expand. Root hair cell: Increased surface area for water.

What are stem cells?
A stem cell is a cell that has not yet become a specialised cell.
5 of 8
What are plant stem cells called?
Meristems
6 of 8
What is stem cell treatment/research?
It is the process in which doctors can prescribe stem cells to regenerate damaged cells or treat certain illnesses such as Alzheimers.
7 of 8
Why are some people against stem cell research?
Because it is morally conflicting. The most effective stem cells are made of embryo's that, some argue, deserve a life.
