Marriage is part of God's Plan for humans: " In the image of God he created them male and female. God blessed them and said ' be fruitful and increase in number'." Jesus upheld this teaching: " the two will become one flesh." Mark 10:6-9

LIFELONG: " 'till death do us part", LIFE GIVING: open to the gift of children, EXCLUSIVE: the couple remain faithful to each other, A SACRAMENT: Jesus is present in the words and actions of the couple.

The couple's love for eachother, lived out in the joys and setbacks of everyday life, is a powerful image of God's love for his people.

Why do Christians believe God created humans as he did?
So they would be attracted to each other and come to love each other. Because of their love, they would marry and thus become a family. a husband and wife would have sex and children are born and, with God's help, they will be surrounded by love.
