Car safety

These cards contain details about different types of features modern cars have to reduce the forces on the occupants of the car when a collision occurs. Users should try to remember all the safety features given (each safety feature is on one side of a card) and their functions (the function of a safety feature on the other side of a card the safety feature is on).

Intro
Modern cars contain a number of safety features designed to reduce the forces on the occupants of the car when a collision occurs
1 of 5
Seat belt
When a collision occurs, the seat belt stretches. This increases the impact time slightly and reduces the force
2 of 5
Air bag
When a collision occurs, the driver's head will hit the airbag and the head's momentum changes slowly
3 of 5
Air bag (continued)
So the force on the head would be less than it would be if it changed momentum quickly by hitting the steering wheel
4 of 5
Side impact bars and crumple zones
When a collision occurs, they fold up to increase the impact time and reduce the forces acting
