C6

?
what is electrolysis?
it is a chemical reaction where ionic liquid is broken down into elements using electric current.
1 of 9
what is the ionic substance used in electrolysis?
the elcrolyte, it must be molten so that the ions are free to move around
2 of 9
where do the positive ions go in electrolysis
they move and discharge at the chathode.
3 of 9
where do the negative ions go in electrolysis?
they move to the anode and discharge there
4 of 9
where are electrons removed from in electrolysis?
they are removed from negative ions.
5 of 9
what is the amount of product produced depended on during electrolysis?
it depends on the current and length of time it flows for
6 of 9
what formula can be used to work out the quantity of electricity oassed in electrolysis?
quantity of electricity = current amps x time in seconds
7 of 9
what happens when an electric current is passed through copper sulfate using copper electrodes?
the positive electrodes start to bubble (O2 is made) and mass decreases because ions move away from it. the negative electrode becomes plated with copper (mass increase). the electrolyte becomes less blue as it starts to decompose.
8 of 9
when you react oxygen with hydrogen what sort of reaction is it?
an exothermic reaction
