What is the equation for finding Moles?
Moles = Mass / Mr
1 of 9
What is the equation for Concentration?
Concentration = Moles / Volume
2 of 9
What Are three methods of measuring Gas? Give their advantages/disadvantages
GAS SYRINGE - Accurate but vigorous reactions could blow it out. UPTURNED MEASURING CYLINDER - good for ammonia and hydrogen chloride, burette is very accurate. MASS - most accurate using mass but disadvantage of releasing gas into the room
3 of 9
Describe how three different factors affect equilibrium
TEMPERATURE - Increase temperature moves to endothermic to counteract. PRESSURE - Increase temperature moves towards fewer moles. CONCENTRATION - increase concentration equilibrium moves to the right

Symbol equations for three reactions in the contact process
diagram here
5 of 9
Explain the conditions used in the contact process
TEMPERATURE of 450' - compromise between high yield and speed. PRESSURE atmospheric pressure - compromise between yield and price. CATALYST - a vanadium pentoxide catalyst is used and doesnt change equilbrium
6 of 9
What is the difference between strength and acidity?
STRENGTH (PH) tells you what proportion of acid molecules ionise in water. CONCENTRATION is how many moles of acid in 1 litre of water.
7 of 9
What does it mean for acid to totally ionise in water?
It means that every hydrogen atom releases a hyrdrogen ion, giving lots of H+ ions.
8 of 9
How would you test for Chloride, Bromide and Iodide?
Add dilute sulfuric acid followed by lead nitrate, then observe colors. chloride gives WHITE. bromide gives CREAM. Iodide gives YELLOW
