What is Qualitative analysis?
Analysis which investigates the kinds of substance present in a sample.

What is Quantitative analysis?
Analysis which investigates the amounts of substances present in a sample.

Why must ion tests be unique?
Because if an ion test gave results for more than one result then you would not be sure which of those ions was in the compound.

How do chemists use ion tests? (water purity)
To check the purity of water. They use chlorine to destroy bacteria. Aluminium salts are used to remove small particles of solids.

How do chemists use ion tests? (blood)
They test for aluminium, iron, sodium etc. Anaemia is due to low iron. Also use for medical research - link between aluminium and Alzheimer's.
