Because if an ion test gave results for more than one result then you would not be sure which of those ions was in the compound. 3 of 5 How do chemists use ion tests? (water purity) To check the purity of water. They use chlorine to destroy bacteria. Aluminium salts are used to remove small particles of solids. 4 of 5 How do chemists use ion tests? (blood) They test for aluminium, iron, sodium etc. Anaemia is due to low iron. Also use for medical research - link between aluminium and Alzheimer's. 5 of 5
