This is less dense than iron. It is not magnetic while iron is. This does not corrode easily. This and iron are both malleable and good electrical conductors.
Aluminium
1 of 8
This is an alloy of iron and carbon. Is harder and stronger, and less likely to corrode than iron.
Steel
2 of 8
Steel, copper, aluminium, glass, plastics, fibres are all _________ needed to make a car.
Materials
3 of 8
The car ____ can be made from steel OR aluminium. Aluminium is lighter (more economical), will corrode less but is more expensive.
body
4 of 8
From 2006, 85% of a car must be able to be ________, from 2015 rises to 95%.
Recycled
5 of 8
This process needs oxygen and water to happen, it is oxidation (adding oxygen). Word eq. = iron + oxygen + water -> hydrated iron (III) oxide.
Rusting
6 of 8
Salt water and ____ rain both increase the rate of rusting.
Acid
7 of 8
Aluminium does not corrode as it is protected by a smooth coating of aluminium _____.
