explain spectrscopy
when elements in a sample can be identified. its like a flame test. patterns of light are emitted from an element in a sample. each element gives off a different pattern.
1 of 6
what are the advantages of spectroscopy
it is fast, reliable and can detect very small amounts of elements in a sample.
2 of 6
name two elements discovered by spectoscopy
caesium and rubidim
3 of 6
what is the test for a carbonate
turns limewater cloudy because carbonates react with dilute acids to produce co2
4 of 6
what is the test for a sulfate
diute HCL+barium chloride solution= if produces a white precipitate of barium sulfate then the origonal compound was sulfate
5 of 6
what is the test for a chloride
dilute nitric acid
