?
What is the crust?
The crust is a very thin layer at the surface of the earth that varies in thickness between 5km and 70km.
1 of 5
What is the mantle?
The mantle is almost entirely solid but parts of it can flow very slowly, under the surface (3000km) and goes almost halfway to the centre of the earth.
2 of 5
What is the core?
The core (roughly half the diameter of the Earth) has a liquid outer part and solid inner part, with a high proportion of the magnetic materials metals, iron and nickel.
3 of 5
What is the atmosphere?
The atmosphere surrounds the Earth. Most of the air is within 10km of the surface and most of the atmosphere is within 100km of the surface.
4 of 5
Why should we be careful not to waste the Earth's resources?
As all of the raw materials and other resources that we depend on come from crust, ocean and atmosphere and so are limited.
