C1 - Fractional Distillation of Crude Oil

HideShow resource information
Give examples of fossil fuels...
Coal, oil, gas.
1 of 5
What are non-renewable fuels?
Fuels that take so long to make they're used up faster then they're being formed.
2 of 5
Crude oil is a mixture of...
Hydrocarbons.
3 of 5
What is fractional distillation?
How the different compounds in crude oil are seperated.
4 of 5
Explain fractional distillation.
Oil is heated until turned into gas, gases enter FRACTIONATING COLUMN, long hydrocarbons turn back into liquid and drain out of column quickly, later the short hydrocarbons drain out.
