This was Labours policy to tackle unemplyment, it ended statutary wages and price controls and extended welfare, strikes fell from 6 million in 1975 to 3 million in 1976

Ford worker were given a 17% pay rise in 1978 so did transport workers, Low paid public workers went on strikes for better pay also
