*Victorians were born into a social class and couldn't change *men who own a property are allowed to vote

*Industrial revolution helped make money ~> political power 1832 * Started social mobility. *moral ideas of hard work, thrift and self reliance ~> increased social and economic development *railways = more travel and leisure opportunities

1870 education act
All children between 5 and 12 go to school, by 1880 it was made compulsory which led to an increase in literacy rates in all classes which led to growth in the newspapers

Foreign secretary didn't get on with a Queen Victoria and became prime minister in 1855. He believed in perfection of their political system.
