Why did Bowlby believe attachment was Instinctive?

What is Monotropy?
A special attachment to one caregiver

What is Critical Period?
The first 3 years of a child's life, when an attachment has to take place. If it has not taken place the child will experience psychological problems when they are older

What is Privation?
When a child does not form an attachment bond. Can lead to poor social skills, poor language, language skills and poor motor skills.

What is Deprivation
When an attachment bond is formed but then broken. Deprivation occurs when a child is separated from their primary caregiver for a week or more. Can lead to child being clingy, over-demanding and have a phobia or going to school.
