What does Bowlby's theory of attachment consist of?

What is montropy?
The belief that infants form a special attachment with their mother -> if the mother isn't present, the infant could bond with an ever-present substitute

What is innate?
Natural tendencies of babies that occur naturally -> forming attachments, etc/

What is survival?
The most desirable characteristics are passed down to increase the chances of the infant surviving in future life

What are social releasers?
'Unlockers' of the innate tendency of adults to care for infants -> both psychological and behavioural

What is the reciprocal?
The response to a positive action with another positive action, rewarding kind actions

What is evolutionary?
An approach in the social and natural sciences that examines psychological structure from a modern evolutionary perspective

What is the internal working model?
A special mental schema for relationships that is formed through the monotrophic attachment
