What does blood plasma transport?
carbon dioxide from the organs to the lungs, soluble products of digestion from the small intestine to other organs, urea from the liver to the kidneys
2 of 8
What do red blood cells do?
transport oxygen from the lungs to the organs
3 of 8
What do red blood cells contain and what does it do?
a red pigment called haemoglobin which combines with oxygen in the lungs to form oxyhaemoglobin and splits up in organs
4 of 8
How is it adapted to work efficientyl?
no nucleus, biconcave, thin outer membrane
5 of 8

cells that form part of the body's defence system against microorganisms (have no nucleus)
