How do plants protect themselves by creating different chemicals?
1.) They can make poison in their cells to kill of pests that try and eat them. 2.) the can create chemicals to kill pathogens which could infect them and cause disease.

They decrease the crop yield due to damaging the plants.

Because the farmers have to treat the plants with pesticide which is expensive.

It increases the prices for food.
