What are the characteristics of normal distribution?
Mean = meadian = mode / symmetry about the centre / 50% of values less than mean, and 50% of values greater than the mean. - graph often has a bell curve.

What are 2 examples of normally distributed data?
Height, weight, blood pressure
2 of 7
How do you calculate the standard deviation of a population?
1) calculate the mean of the results. 2) minus each of your results by the mean and square the answer. 3) find the mean of the squared differences. 4)square root to find the standard deviation.
3 of 7
How do you calculate the standard deviation of a sample of a population?
1) find the mean of the data. 2) calculate the squared difference by subtracting each value by the mean and squaring it. 3) find the sum of the squared mean and divide by the number of samples minus 1. 4) square root answer.
4 of 7
What is the % of values within one standard deviation?
68% = likely
5 of 7
What is the % of values within 2 standard deviations
95% = very likely
6 of 7
How do you minimise chance from a sampling process?
Use a large sample size, analyse the data collected to determine the extent to which chance may have influenced the data.
