Biology - Aerobic and anaerobic repiration

?
What does respiration do and using what?
Release energy for cells using glucose.
1 of 12
What are the two types of respiration?
Aerobic and Anaerobic.
2 of 12
Whic respiration needs oxygen?
Aerobic.
3 of 12
Complete the equation for aerobic respiration? Glucose + Oxygen =
Carbon dioxide + water + (energy)
4 of 12
What is energy released during respiration used for?
To build up larger molecules from small ones, to allow muscle sto contract, to keep body temperature steady and to build sugars, nitrates and other nutrients into amino acids.
5 of 12
During eexercice, the muscles cells respire more than they do at rest, what does this mean must happen?
Oxygen and glucose must be delivered to them quickly and wast carbon dioxide must be removed quickly.
6 of 12
What three things can help this be achieved?
Incresing heart rate, breathing rate and depth of breathing.
7 of 12
During hard exercise what do muscles store glucose as and use quickly?
Gylocogen.
8 of 12
What does cahnging gylcogen back to glucose provide?
More energy.
9 of 12
Complete the equation for anaerobic respiration. Glucose =
Lactic Acid + (little energy)
10 of 12
What does anaerobic respiration involve the incomplete breakdown of?
Glucose.
11 of 12
What does anaerobic cause?
Muscle fatigue (muscles get tired)
