WHAT IS THE JOB OF THE CYTOPLASM AND WHERE IS IT FOUND?
It is found in both animal and plant cells and chemical reactions take place in the jelly like substance. It also controls the enzymes.
1 of 16
WHAT IS THE JOB OF THE MITOCHONDRIA AND WHERE IS IT FOUND?
It is found in both animal and plant cells and it releases energy from sugar during aerobic respiration.
2 of 16
WHAT IS THE JOB OF THE PERMANENT VACUOLE AND WHERE IS IT FOUND?
It is only found in plant cells and it is a fluid-filled cavity (sap) that is used to support the cell.
3 of 16
WHAT IS DIFFUSION?
It is the movement of particles from an area of high to low concentration between fluids.
4 of 16
WHAT IS DIFFERENTIATION?
It is when cells become specialised to carry out particular functions by developing special structures
5 of 16
HOW ARE RED BLOOD CELLS SPECIALISED FOR THEIR JOB?
They have a large surface area to speed up the rate of diffusion and dont have a nucleus so they can contain large amounts of haemoglobin which allows them to carry oxygen
6 of 16
GIVE EXAMPLES OF THREE TISSUES FOUND IN ANIMALS AND WHAT THEY DO
Muscle - contract for movement, glandular - produce enzymes and hormones and epithelial - covering for major organs like the stomach
7 of 16
DESCRIBE TWO WAYS THAT DATA CAN BE COLLECTED FOR THE DISTRIBUTION OF ORGANISMS
Transect - line (rope) across a habitat and the number of species is observed at intervals. Quadrats - a square made of wire that is placed randomly and number of species is observed.

WHAT IS BILE AND WHERE IS IT FOUND?
Bile is made in the liver, stored in the gall bladder and released in the small intestine. it neutralises the acid from the food that was in the stomach in order to allow enzymes in the small intestine to work best
9 of 16
WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN HOMOZYGOUS AND HETEROZYGOUS?
Homozygous has identical alleles whilst heterozygous has different alleles
10 of 16
WHAT IS A GENE?
It is a section of DNA found in a chromosome in a nucleus
11 of 16
WHAT IS MITOSIS? WHERE DOES IT OCCUR?
It is DNA replication that occurs in asexual reproduction and growth and repair of cells.
12 of 16
DESCRIBE THE PROCESS OF SPECIATION
A population is divided and this causes genetic variation. Natural selection occurs and over time groups are so different they can no longer interbreed and form new species.
13 of 16
WHAT ARE STEM CELLS AND WHERE CAN THEY BE FOUND?
The are undifferentiated cells and so can be made into cell types that are need. In animals they are found in bone marrow (only specialise to limited cell types), embryonic cells and in the umbilical cord
14 of 16
WHAT IS ANAEROBIC RESPIRATION?
Incomplete breakdown of glucose to form lactic acid. No oxygen is required and only occurs when not enough oxygen is present as it is less efficient
15 of 16
NAME THREE FACTORS THAT LIMIT THE PROCESS OF PHOTOSYNTHESIS
Light, Carbon dioxide and temperature
