When there is a competition between two animals to survive. e.g giraffes with a longer neck are likely to live longer because they can reach more food.

It has grown gills to allow it to breathe in the water, it has also grown fins to allow it to swim faster away from predators.

His did not have sufficient evidence, also people thought that we were far to superior to have evolved from chimps.
