Where do genes come from? cells.
The sperm nucleus joins with the egg nucleus, forming a new nucleus containing all the genetic info needed.

What happens to the fertilised egg cell with identical twins?
the egg cell is made up of 36 cells, the cells are split in half so each get 18 cells each making them identical as they have the same genes.
