Phagocytes
A type of White Blood Cell within the body capable of engulfing and absorbing bacteria and other small cells and particles.

Lymphocytes
A form of small leucocyte (white blood cell) with a single round nucleus, occurring especially in the lymphatic system.

Immune System
The organs and processes of the body that provide resistance to infection and toxins. Organs include the thymus, bone marrow, and lymph nodes.

Pathogen
A bacterium, virus, or other microorganism that can cause disease.

Antibodies
A blood protein produced in response to and counteracting a specific antigen. Antibodies combine chemically with substances which the body recognizes as alien, such as bacteria, viruses, and foreign substances in the blood.
