A good diet provides the energy you need but not more. Food groups have different uses in the body. Carbohydrates: Release energy. Fats: Keep warm and release energy Protiens: Growth, cell repair and cell replacement. Firbre: Digestive system.

Need energy to fuel chemical reactions in the body that keep you alive. The reactions are called your metabolism, muscle needs more energy than fatty tissue. Bigger people more likely to have a higher metabolic rate.
