It does not take account of the binding and simultaneous change seen in many reactions. Does not take account of the fact that some enzymes can bind to more than one similarly shaped substrates

What are the characteristics of enzymes?
Enzymes are globular proteins. They are soluble in water due to the presence of many hydrophilic side groups on their constituent amino acids
Explain the effect of the non competitive inhibitor?
The non-competitive inhibitor attaches to the enzyme at a site other than the active site and changes the shape of the active site so an enzyme substrate complex can not be formed

Give an example of an enzyme, its substrate and the products?
Catalase. hydrogen peroxide. Water + Oxygen
5 of 6
Why are enzymes known as biological catalysts?
Because they speed up the rate of a chemical reaction without being used up. They do this by lowering the activation energy
