What causes a girls period?
When you are not pregnant the uterus lining is not needed, Uterus lining thickens and sheds. = period

Condoms. What is it? Barrier or hormonal? Advantages and disadvantages
Barrier. A sheath that is rolled over the erect penis. + most likely to stop pregnancy. - not 100% accurate
20 of 39
Diaphragm What is it? Barrier or hormonal? Advantages and disadvantages
Barrier. A silicone cover over the female cervix + No STI Likely - likely to rip

IUD What is it? Barrier or hormonal? Advantages and disadvantages
Hormonal. A small copper stick placed inside the vagina. copper kills sperm. + Can stay for up to 10 years - STI Likely

What if IVF?
In vitro fertilization (IVF) is a way to let sperm fertilize eggs outside the womb. It is used for mums who cannot have babies.
25 of 39
What does IVF stand for?
In vitro fertilization.
26 of 39
How does IVF work?
1) Injecting FSH so that the ova is released. 2) HCG is injected to loosen the ova. It is then removed from the vagina. 3) The sperm and egg are added together to fertilize an egg. It is then placed back in the womb 4) The woman is then pregnant

What are our bodily ways to keep warm?
Wrap up in warm clothing, decrease surface area, rub hands, shiver, goose bumps, drink hot liquids.
28 of 39
What are our bodily ways to keep cool?
drink cool liquids, sweating, take off layers.
29 of 39
Why do people need to drink lots of water when sweating?
People are losing body moisture from sweating so need to drink water to stay alive and hydrate their body.
30 of 39
What is the glucose cycle?
Increased blood glucose after eating a big meal- the pancreas releases insulin to control the glucose- the pancreas gives the liver glucose- The liver stores the glucose- repeat
31 of 39
What is released when the glucose is gone
Glucagon! Get itttttt! *insert laughing here* ...
32 of 39
What is type 1 diabetes?
Type 1 diabetes can happen to anyone. The pancreas cannot produce insulin to contorl glucose levels so blood sugar is high. It hurts the immune system. The person must have a balanced low sugar diet.
33 of 39
What is type 2 diabetes?
Eating too much unhealthy food. Too much insulin is released so it shuts down/ dies. A balanced diet is needed for life.
34 of 39
What is the pancreas?
Checks the concentration of glucose in the blood. If it is too high the pancreas releases insulin.
35 of 39
What is the liver?
cells of the liver turn glucose into glucagon and stored.
36 of 39
What is Insulin?
Hormone by the pancreas that controls the blood glucose levels.
37 of 39
What is Glucagon similar to?
Similar to Insulin
