What is diffusion?
The net movement of particles of a gas or a solute from an area of high concentration to an area of low concentration
1 of 11
What is osmosis?
The net movement of water from an area of high concentration (of water) to an area of low concentration (of water) along a concentration gradient
2 of 11
What is active transport?
The movement of substances against a concentration gradient and/or across a cell membrane, using energy
3 of 11
What is the nucleus?
An organelle found in many living cells containing the genetic information
4 of 11
What is the cytoplasm?
The water-basd gel in which the organelles of all living cells are suspended
5 of 11
What is the cell membrane?
The membrane around the contents of a cell which controls what moves in and out of the cell
6 of 11
What is the mitochondria?
The site of aerobic cellular respiration
7 of 11
What are Ribosomes?
The protein sythesis in a cell
8 of 11
What is the cell wall?
A rigid structure which surrounds the cells of living organisms except animals
9 of 11
What are chloroplasts?
The organelles in which photosynthesis takes place
