cells (plant cells)// biology

these cards will help you memorise parts of plant cells and their functions.

?
nucleus
the nucleus stores all the DNA in the plant cell and also coordinates the cells actions, (such as reproduction (cell division).
1 of 6
cell wall
the cell wall helps protect the plant cell (otherwise known as the outer protective membrane). the main function for the cell wall is to provide structure and support to the cell.
2 of 6
cell membrane
the cell membrane is the part of the cell that controls the movement of substances in and out of the cell. it basically acts as a permeable membrane (selectively) to ions and organic molecules
3 of 6
mitochondria
the mitochondria is 'the powerhouse' of the cell. the mitochondria provides energy for certain types of cells (sperm cells). the function of the cell is to take in all nutrients, break those down and make molecules full of rich energy.
4 of 6
ribosomes
the ribosomes are minute particles consisting of RNA (ribonucleic acid). this part of the cell is where protein synthesis happens
5 of 6
vacuole
the vacuole might store food or nutrients in a cell. usually people call it the 'cell sap'.
