Nucleus
Contains all the genetic material that controls the activities of the cell.
1 of 8
Cytoplasm
A gel-like substance where most of the chemical reactions happen. It contains enzymes that control these chemical reactions.
2 of 8
Cell membrane
Holds the cell together and controls what goes in and out,
3 of 8
Mitochondria
These are where most of the reactions for aerobic respiration take place. Respiration transfers energy that the cell needs to work.
4 of 8
Ribosomes
These are where proteins are made in the cell.
5 of 8
Cell wall
A rigid structure made of cellulose. It supports and strengthens the cell.
6 of 8
Permanent vacuole
Contains cell sap, a weak solution of sugar and salt.
7 of 8
Chloroplasts
These are where photosynethesis occurs, which makes food for the plant. They contain a green substance called chlorophyll, which absorbs the light needed for photosynthesis.
