-Add Benedicts reagent to the sample - Put in a gently boiling water bath

The solution should turn a series of colours- Blue, Green, Yellow, Orange then Brick Red. A negative result and the solution remains blue.

Do the reducing sugars test and if it turns negative do this- Add dilute HCI - Heat in a water bath that has been brought to the boil- Neutralise it with hydrogen carbonate- Add Benedicts reagent.
