A culture medium which contains carbohydrates, minerals, proteins and vitamins

Why must petri dishes and culture media be sterilised before use?
To kill any unwanted microorganisms.

Why must the lid of the petri dish be lightly taped on?
To stop microorganisms from the air getting in.

Because harmful pathogens are more likely to grow above this temperature.

weed killers, rooting powders, promoting growth in tissue culture.
