How does your body act as a defence system?
1) SKIN - acts as a barrier to pathogens, secretes anti microbial substances which kill pathogens
2) HAIRS & MUCUS - trap particles that could contain pathogens
3) TRACHEA & BRONCHI - secrete mucus
4) CILIA - waft mucus up to back of throat to be sw

How does the immune system attack pathogens?
White blood cells:

1) phagocytosis - they engulf foreign cells and digest them
2) Producing antibodies
3) Producing antitoxins that counteract toxins
4) They have memory, if infected with same pathogen again white blood cells rapidly produce antibodies

How do antibodies work?
-White blood cells produce antibodies when they come across a foreign antigen
-Antibodies lock onto invading cells so that they can be found and destroyed by other white blood cells (like a marker‼️
