These are very small cells- reproduce rapidly inside your body. they make you feel ill, produce toxins damaging cells and tissues (8) 6. A Viral Disease. - Spreads by droplets from infected person. Person will develop red skin rash and fever. Can be serious, potentially fatal- lead to pneumonia. Vaccinated against these when people are young (7) 7. These are Eukaryotes, mostly single celled. Some are parasites- on or inside organisms and cause damage. Transferred by a vector e.g. Insect (8) 8. Some of these are single celled, some have a body made of hyphae (thread like structure). They grow and penetrate human skin and plant surface causing disease. They can produce spores which spread. (5) Down 2. These aren't cells but still very tiny. They reproduce rapidly inside your body, live inside cells and replicate using your cells. The cells burst releasing all new viruses. The cell damage makes you ill (7) 3. These can be spread in different ways: -Water. drinking or bathing in dirty water, -Air. breathed in, produced when you cough or sneeze, -Direct Contact. touching contaminated surfaces like skin (9) 4. Microorganisms that enter the body and cause communicable disease which spread easily. Animals and Plants can be infected (9) 5. A Viral Disease. -Affects many species of plants. The leaves become discoloured so it can't carry out photosynthesis, so growth is affected (7, 6, 5) 9. A Viral Disease. -Spreads by sexual contact or exchange of bodily fluids. Person will get flu-like symptoms for a few weeks and the virus attacks the immune system. Controlled with Antiretrovial drugs, stopping the virus replicating. (3)
