What is the difference between fitness and health?
Healthy means being free from any infectious diseases. Fitness is a measure of how well you can do physical exercise.

What is systolic and diastolic pressure?
Systolic pressure is when the heart contracts, diastolic is when the heart relaxes.

smoking, being overweight, drinking too much alcohol, stress

What problems could high blood pressure cause?
strokes, brain damage, kidney damage.

What problems could low blood pressure cause?
poor circulation, leading to dizziness and fainting

How does smoking increase blood pressure?
Carbon monoxide combines with the haemoglobin in red blood cells reducing its oxygen carrying capabilities meaning the heart needs to pump harder to receive the same amount of oxygen. Nicotine also increases heart rate.

What in your diet can lead to heart disease?
saturated fats and salt

How does saturated fat lead to heart disease?
it causes a build up of cholesterol in your arteries. It forms plaques in the artery wall restricting the flow of blood

How do narrow arteries increase the risk of a heart attack?
the blood flow becomes restricted and the heart receives less oxygen. If a thrombosis occurs in a narrow artery, the blood flow is completely cut off
