What 4 parts make up an animal cell?
Nucleus, Cytoplasm, Cell membrane, Mitochondria
1 of 17
What 4 parts make up a plant cell?
Nucleus, Cell membrane, Chloroplasts, Large Vacuole
2 of 17
What do Organelles have?
They have a folded inner membrane which provides a large surface area for the enzymes involved in aerobic respiration.
3 of 17
What is mitochondria?
Mitochondria are structures in cells where respiration happens.
4 of 17
What is a lot of mitochondria needed for?
Cells which need a lot of energy such as muscle cells and sperm.
5 of 17
What is little mitochondria needed for?
Cells which have very little energy like fat cells.
6 of 17
What are the 9 parts that make up a bacteria cell?
Cytoplasm, Ribosome, Pila, Capsule, Cell Wall, Plasma membrane, Nucleoid DNA, plasmid DNA, Flagellum
7 of 17
What is a ribosome?
Ribosomes are cell structures that are too small to be seen by the light microscope.
8 of 17
Where are ribosomes found?
They are found in the cytoplasm and are the site of protein synthesis. They can only be seen using an electron microscope.
9 of 17
What is the equation when yeast cells carry out aerobic respiration when lots of oxygen is present?
glucose + oxygen ---> carbon dioxide + water
10 of 17
Yeast can also survive when little oxygen is present; anaerobic respiration. What is the equation for this?
glucose + ethanol + carbon dioxide
11 of 17
What is unusual about the genetic material in bacterial cells?
The bacterial cells have no nucleus and they have different bits of DNA.
12 of 17
Which are bigger out of bacterial cells and yeast cells?
Yeast cells are bigger.
13 of 17
What do cells need to diffuse across the cell membrane?
Substances like glucose.
14 of 17
Where in the body does oxygen diffuse?
It diffuses across the lung tissue walls for respiration. It then diffuses into red blood cells.
15 of 17
What diffuses across the gut?
Amino acids from the breakdown of proteins.
16 of 17
What is net movement?
Particles moving in- particles moving out.
