Biology- Aerobic and anaerobic respiration

?
What are the two types of respiration?
Aerobic and Anaerobic respiration
1 of 16
Where do most reactions take place in aerobic respiration?
In the mitochondria
2 of 16
What is the word equation for aerobic respiration?
Glucose + Oxygen -------> carbon dioxide + Water
3 of 16
Does aerobic or anaerobic respiration need plenty of oxygen?
Aerobic respiration
4 of 16
When is anaerobic respiration used?
When there is not enough Oxygen.
5 of 16
What is the word equation for anaerobic respiration?
Glucose -------> lactic acid
6 of 16
What does the chemical symbol C6H12O6 represent?
Glucose
7 of 16
Does anaerobic respiration transfer more or less energy than aerobic respiration?
Less energy.
8 of 16
Why does anaerobic respiration transfer less energy than aerobic respiration?
Because the glucose is not fully oxidised.
9 of 16
What is the word equation of Anaerobic respiration in yeast and plants?
Glucose --------> ethanol + carbon dioxide
10 of 16
What is anaerobic respiration in yeast cells called?
Fermentation.
11 of 16
How does your body respond during exercise?
You respire more, Anaerobic respiration leads to an oxygen debt.
12 of 16
What is an Oxygen debt?
An oxygen debt is the amount of extra oxygen your body needs to react with the build up of lactic acid and remove it from the cells.
13 of 16
When does an oxygen debt occur?
After resorting to anaerobic respiration, when you stop exercising.
14 of 16
What is the bodies other way of coping with a build up of lactic acid?
The blood that enters your muscles transports the lactic acid to the liver, in the liver the lactic acid is converted back to glucose
15 of 16
What is a metabolism?
All the chemical reactions in an organism.
