name three specialised cells
accept sperm, egg, red blood, pancreatic, nerve and palisade.
1 of 14
what is the role of the xylem?
carries the water from the roots up the plant.
2 of 14
what does the stoma do?
closes to prevent water loss.
3 of 14
what does air space allow?
Allows efficient gas exchange because it is shorter diffusion pathways.
4 of 14
what do all animal and plant cells have?
a nucleus, ribosomes mitochondria, cytoplasms and cell membrane.
5 of 14
what do red blood cells do?
carry blood containing oxygen around the body.
6 of 14
what is epithelial?
Epithelial tissue is a sheet of cells that covers a body surface or lines a body cavity. Covers some parts of the body
7 of 14
what is glandular?
Produces substances such as enzymes and hormones
8 of 14
what is muscular?
contracts, bringing about movement
9 of 14
whta is the role of the phloem?
are involved in translocation. This is the movement of food substances from the stems to growing tissues and storage tissues.
10 of 14
what is the epidermis?
The epidermis cells is a single-layer of cells that covers the leaves, flowers, roots and stems of plants. It forms a boundary between the plant and the external environment.
11 of 14
what is mesophyll?
the inner tissue (parenchyma) of a leaf, containing many chloroplasts.
12 of 14
what do chloroplasts do?
Chloroplasts are the food producers of the cell. Chloroplasts work to convert light energy of the Sun into sugars that can be used by cells. The entire process is called photosynthesis and it all depends on the chlorophyll molecules ineachchloroplast
13 of 14
what is the stomata?
they are openings usually on the underside of a leaf that allows gases, like CO2 to enter the leaf. they are protected by two guard cells on either side
