What is addiction?
When you have consumed a substance enough times your body gets addicted and dependant on it

What is the 'reward pathway'?
It is also referred to as the 'dopamine pathway'. When we do something pleasurable dopamine is released which activates the pathway making us enjoy the task

They got rats to press a lever for a reward and they found the rats would still press the lever to gain food, drink and sex even if they were shocked for doing so

What is desensitisation to drugs?
This is where a person has taken the substance enough times that it no longer has effects like it would on the first time. This means the person must take more for them receptor to react

What is drug withdrawal?
These are symptoms that occur when a person stops taking the substance they are addicted to
