The build up of fatty material within the wall of the artery that builds up under the endothelium of blood vessels. As the blood vessel thickens the lumen narrows.
1 of 8
Aneurysm
A thinning or ballooning of the artery due to a weakness in the wall often caused by an atheroma
2 of 8
Arteriosclerosis
Hardening of the arteries, often associated with old age. The blood vessel walls become less elastic and are more likely to rupture.
3 of 8
Thrombosis
A blood clot lodges in the vessel.
4 of 8
Embolism
A clot/thrombus travelling in the blood stream.

Myocardial Infarction
A heart attack. Part of the muscle dies when the blood supply to that area is interrupted.
6 of 8
High Density Lipoproteins
Have less cholesterol and can lower blood cholesterol.
