Biol5 AQA Flashcards

?
Stimulus
A detectable change in the internal or external environment of an organism that produces a response in the organism
1 of 7
Taxis
A simple response whose direction is determined by the direction of the stimulus
2 of 7
Kinesis
A form of response in which the organism does not move towards or away from a stimulus. Instead, the more unpleasant the stimulus, the more rapidly it moves and the more rapidly it changes direction
3 of 7
Tropism
A growth movement of part of a plant in response to a directional stimulus
4 of 7
Reflex Arc
The nerve pathway in the body taken by an action potential that leads to a rapid, involuntary response to a stimulus
5 of 7
Reflex
An involuntary response to a sensory stimulus

Autonomic Nervous System
Part of the nervous system, controlling the muscles and glands, that is not under voluntary control
