Neurones
induvidual nerve cells that are specailised to transmit electrical impulses

Bundles of neurones that connect receptors and effectors to the CNS.

Gap between end of 2 neurones.

Chemical transmitters
Chemicals that pass across the synapse and cause an impulse to be generated in the next neurone.

responses that are coordinated to the brain.

automatic rapid responses, which arent coordinated with the brain

Relay neurones
pass impulses from sensory neurones to motor neurones.

Sensory neurones
carry impulses from receptor or sense organ to spinal cord or brain.

Motor neurones
carry impulses to effectors such as muscles or glands

Spinal Reflex
Impulse passes from sensory neurone, via motor neurone, via relay neurone. NB does not travel via brain- automatic
