What is Classical Conditioning?
Classical conditioning occurs when an association is made between a previously unlearned response, and a neutral stimulus. If two are paired enough times, eventually the neutral stimulus will produce the unlearned response.

What is Operant Conditioning?
Operant conditioning involves learning through reinforcement. It is more voluntary than the learning seen in classical conditioning. This is when people behave in a particular way and are rewarded for it, they will repeat it.

What is the aim of Systematic Desensitisation?
It is to counter condition (unlearn or relearn); the client is taught a new association that runs counter (opposite) to the original association e.g. relaxation instead of the fear.
