Give one difference between anaerobic respiration in animals and fermentation in microorganisms.
Anaerobic respiration produces toxic substances whereas fermentation doesn't.

The ideal conditions in which a chemical reaction takes place.

Both produce carbon dioxide, both are oxidising reactions. Not much energy is produced in respiration but a lot of energy is produced in combustion, many steps for respiration.

It speeds up the reaction (a catalyst)

What is an oxygen debt? How is it paid back?
The amount of oxygen required to clear out all of the lactic acid. It is paid back by deep breathing.

Aerobic respiration produces more energy that anaerobic. Anaerobic respiration produces lactic acid wheread aerobic respiration does not.

Why doesn't water diffuse through the walls of the glass?
Glass is not a semi-permeable membrane which are the only conditions that diffusion of water can take place in.

Why don't plants' leaves fill up with carbon dioxide if it keeps diffusing in during the day?
Carbon dioxide diffuses in and out of the leaf so it doesn't stay in the leaf (filling it up)

Why is the cell membrane called partially permeable?
So that it allows diffusion to take place. Not fully permeable so that large molecules cannot pass through the membrane, only small molecules.
