?
what does M.R.S.G.R.E.N stand for?
movement,respiration,sensitivity,growth,reproduction,excretio, nutrition
1 of 19
A nuclueus...
contains instructions to create proteins.
2 of 19
what happens in the cyptoplasm?
synthesis of proteins. (gel like substance)
3 of 19
what does the cell membrane do?
controls what goes in and out of the cell.
4 of 19
what does the cell wall do? what is it made of?
holds cell together-strengthen and protects cell. it is made of cellulose.
5 of 19
what happens in the mitochondria of a cell?
aerobic respiration occurs- enzymes are evolved in this respiration.
6 of 19
where does photosynthesis take place in cell?
in the chloroplasts.
7 of 19
what 4 things does a bacteria cell consist of?
circular DNA, cell wall, cell wall ,cell membrane, cyptoplasm.
8 of 19
what 5 things does a yeast cell consist of?
nucleus. cell wall, cell membrane, cytoplasm, mitochondria.
9 of 19
what are enzymes?
proteins(amino acids) that speed up chemical reactions.
10 of 19
what are 5 properties of Enzymes?
always made of proteins, specific in their action, not altered in the reaction, used multiple times, can be affected by temp (too hot=killed) and ph level.
11 of 19
nucleus, cell membrane, cytoplasm and chloroplasts are all in a plant cell. what are their roles in photosynthesis.
(nucleus=genetic code for enzymes/proteins)(cell membrane=where water/carbon dioxide/oxygen pass in and out of the cell)(cyptoplasm=the site where enzymes or proteins are made.)(chloroplasts=chlorophyll which absorbs light)
12 of 19
what happens to a cell if it is denatured?
the substrate will no longer fit into the active site, so the enzyme becomes denatures.
13 of 19
what are some uses of enzymes?
chemical industry, bread, alcohol, biogas, washing powder (adv+ works in low temps, saves energy and time)(dis- not good for people with sensitive skin)
14 of 19
what is diffusion?
diffusion is the movement if particles ('smelly' particles) through particles of air, to an area where they are at a lower concentration.
15 of 19
what are 3 factors that speed up the rate of reaction?
the shorter the distance the particles have to move, the greater the distance between two region(concentration gradient) the greater the surface area that the particles have to diffuse across.
16 of 19
what is osmosis?
the net movement of water particles across a partially permeable membrane from an area of high concentration to an area of low concentration.
17 of 19
what is the word and symbol equation fro photosynthesis?
6Co2+6h20 ----> C6H12O6+6O2 (carbon dioxide+water--->glucose+oxygen)
18 of 19
what is aerobic respiration?
the process that releases energy from glucose. it occurs in mitchondria.
